Movie nite

Yes! The Hubby and I are watching "Clash of the Titans" tomorrow night! Yay, I'm so excited. The last movie we watched was quite awhile ago. Lol :p

And no, we opted for the non-3D version. Not a big fan of 3D. Unless it's one of those shows at Disney World, Florida *sob* - I miss Disney World :(

My new toy

Nope it ain't some fancy gadget. And it isn't expensive as well. But it's a much needed item when u have kids.

Hahaha! It's my new pencil sharpener!! Love it. It's nice and new and shiny and I purposely bought the most expensive one they had in Popular cos I found that the cheap ass plastic ones are useless!! Those are about 12 bucks and they are plastic and somehow they aren't as good as the one I got.

Anyway, mine is heavy cos it's metal and it cost about $24. There was only that one left on the shelf so too bad about the colour. Gold!! Eeee! Lol :p

So this afternoon was spent sharpening my girls' colour pencils. Hahaha!

And yes, I'm not going to be telling the Hubby that I spent $24 on a pencil sharpener.

Yes I did it!

Do u know what the last book I read was? If I'm not wrong, it was the last Harry Potter book. Lol :p

Well, bring out those 2B pencils and Toto coupons and start colouring cos Momma just went and got myself a BOOK!! And not a kiddy one too. Lol !!

I rented the New Moon DVD over the weekend and now I am absolutely smitten with Taylor Lautner. Totally!! Love him. An he was shirtless most of the movie too!! SIGHHHHH. I am so buying the DVD!

So now, after the movie is over, I am dying to know what happens next. So it's either wait for the next instalment of the saga to be released on the big screen or read the blardy book.

Thing is, the book is damn big and thick. And no pictures in it too. Dammit. Lol!

Now, let's all hope I can finish reading it before the movie is released. Hahahahahaha!

Another cool mom must have

I recently decided (yes, after 4 kids and numerous strollers later) that I needed a cup holder. Lol :p

So when I was at KK hospital the other day, I dropped by First Few Years baby store there and had a look at the cup holders they carried.

Finally bought a Munchkin cup holder. Pink! They have it in blue as well and pretty reasonably priced at $21.90. It fits well for those of us using Maclaren strollers.

So far, I've tried putting the Macdonalds plastic cup (when u order their frappes for eg) and it fits well. U can detach just the cup holder easily when not in use by unhooking it from the plastic portion that u actually attach to your stroller bar.

Alright! Now I can shop and drink my mocha frappé whilst pushing Calista in her stroller!

Daiso rocks!

Yes, yes we're back to THAT story again. Seriously, that place has close to everything u can think of and more. And at 2 bucks a pop, what the hell man?!

I was there recently and chanced upon those mirror things u attach to your windscreen to see you baby behind in her car seat. I've always wanted to get one but Hubby had all these excuses as to why it wasn't necessary so I never got around to buying one. I spotted one at Daiso and bought it. True, it is ugly being bright yellow but what the freaking hell, man - it's just to see the baby. Lol :p

Isn't it awesome for 2 bucks?!

A leisurely breakfast.

So it's a late breakfast. Actually, it qualified as lunch. Darn. And my maid is already preparing lunch at home. Lol :p

I love nasi lemak. Reminds me of my childhood :p

I'm back with Blogpress!

Did u know that Blogpress is a paid app now? Yes, and it's $2.99. My blardy iTunes didn't make a backup of my apps and when everything got deleted (long story) I realized that Blogpress was no longer free. Damn it!

I wrestled over whether to buy it for a few days. Namely cos Hubby didn't want me to buy it. He says that there are so many free apps why must I buy apps?

But there is only one that allows u to blog with such ease. And that's Blogpress.

I haven't told him yet that I went ahead and downloaded the app. I'll wait till the credit card bill comes then tell him. Yes, I'm too chicken to tell him. Not that he'll scold me - he'll NAG. Nag as if I just spent $2990 and not $2.99.

And no, the man doesn't read blogs. Lol :p

Tour de carpark

Was out with my girls today for a doctor's appointment at KK Women and Children's Hospital - Calista's pediatrician does her clinic hours there. The car park was really full. It was awful just looking for a lot.

And u know how some people just have good luck? .. They drive into the carpark and miraculously, some other driver is vacating his lot just at that moment and moreover, the parking lot is located just at the the lift lobby? That's not me. And how some people, they just have to wait around or drive around for a really short time and they find a empty lot within minutes? ... Also not me.

I have no luck when it comes to parking lots. NONE. I usually make a point NOT to go into a mall carpark during peak hours cos I know I will be driving around forever...

YES, forever. I kid u not.

I have tried all the strategies known to man. Really I have. I have tried driving around, waiting at a specific spot and also stalking people who look like they're going to their car to drive off, and STILL it doesn't work for me.

I was in the KKH carpark looking desperately for a lot for half an hour. Actually, it was slightly longer but I told my hubby that it was half an hour.

lol.

I almost drove off back home. If not for the appointment, I would've. And it's not easy when u have 3 young kids in the car who have no understanding of the frustration u are experiencing trying to find that blardy elusive empty parking lot. NONE.

Ranging from crying to whining, to endless questions of whether this was Aunty Lisa's carpark ... and when was lunch and how come I wasn't parking the car already? (this was the best question) .. I think I nearly had a mental breakdown in my Odyssey earlier. It's damn funny now but then it was not. hahaha!!

I finally found a lot and heaved a big sigh of relief when I got everyone to the clinic. Of course, we were already super late for our appt.

Btw, before u mention that KKH does have valet parking .. yes they do and I would've used them .. but then it was so crowded at that time that they were parking cars along the driveway where the lobbies were making it extremely narrow for OTHER CARS moving along .. I had to gingerly drive my Odyssey thru the narrow passage thanks to them parking the vehicles there .. I definitely did not want them to park my car there only to get it accidentally scratched by a passing car. No way. My car may not be a Mercedes .. but I'd hate to see a long scratch on the side. It would bug me no end.

The things we do for our kids ....

Yes, we went to the zoo again. for the millionth freaking time I think. Must be cos now, I don't even look at the animals. All I do is SMELL them and that's enough for me. EGADS!

So here we have a token picture of the 3 of us ... Michelle, Melinda and myself ... buds since our PC3 days in Clovis, NM at Cannon AFB. ahhhh good times, those were. Good times!! .. We can't seem to get over it even though it's been some blardy 6 years or so since we got back here to this hell ... the weather seriously sucks here. really.

The Woodlands Civic Centre

Decided to take a few pics while I was waiting for Lauren and Emily the other day.

As you can see that's the last set of escalators going up from the 2nd to the 3rd floor. After that, u either take the stairs or lift.

Seriously, whose dumb ass idea was it to not have escalators all the way up?!! Idiot!

I can do dumb things sometimes .. dammit!

I haven't had the chance to bitch and gripe about the lifts that are in the Woodlands Civic Centre. There are 4 lifts servicing the whole freaking building. FOUR! FREAKING FOUR. There are altogether 7 storeys .. 2 of which are the basement levels .. Basement 2 right at the bottom is just the carpark while Basement 1 is part car park and also NTUC supermarket. The rest of the floors have restaurants, a few banks, a post office, a large number of shops and educational centres. Kinderland, which is where Lauren and Emily attend school is also in the same buliding - on the 5th floor. Kinderland is NOT only a nursery and a kindy .. it is also a daycare centre for little kids.

It is an agonizing exercise in patience everyday when I fetch the girls to and fro school. I usually park at B2 so that it is easier to get into the lift since it is the last floor before it goes up again. And trust me, you'd think that would be easy but a lot of people who cannot get into the lift going up on the first floor end up getting into the lift going down just so they can be in the lift at all .. after all, the lift will go back up and there are only those few floors. BUT that is something I have no problems with .. what I have such an issue with is the fact that the lifts are inadequate for the building and the amount of people who travel up and down the whole day! .. The worst part is that even though the building does have escalators. Get this - the escalators only go up from the first to 3rd floor. WTH?!! Why not have escalators going up right to the top??!! WHY?? WHY?!! WHY??!! Were they trying to save money in
NOT installing those few extra escalators?!!

It is utterly frustrating cos almost everyone who needs to go BEYOND the 3rd floor will end up taking the lifts. Of course, u can use the stairs. But there are a lot of old people, people with strollers and wheelchairs that have no choice but to take the lifts. And of course, I park at B2 so there is no way in hell I am walking up seven floors to the kindy with my maid, kids and toddler on a daily basis!

I had recently asked the school administrator for the contact details of the building management so that I could write a scathing letter to them about the utter oblivion to the whole lift situition. So there I was, all ready to start writing my email today. And I already stored their number on my iPhone so that I could start complaining to them on a regular basis about the overcrowding lift situation.

Then it happened. TODAY.

You are so going to die laughing.

I was with my maid and Calista this afternoon in the lift .. we had gotten into the lift at B2 (where I usually park) and at level 1, some of other moms that I am chummy with, walked in as well. We were, of course on our way up to fetch our kids.

We were chatting and joking happily .. and laughing etc ..

The lift door opens at level 5 .. and my friends walked out and I was right behind them. I felt something drop.

I looked down. I was directly above the gap between the lift and the floor (the gap leads to the lift shaft of course) .. my friend says, "Hey what did you drop?" at the same exact moment I realized that I HAD DROPPED MY BLARDY BLARDY CAR KEY INTO THE GAP!!

SIGH.

I was horrified. Seriously. And I knew my hubby was going to yell at me.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!

I walked to the management office and told them what had happened. Of course, they were dismayed. LOL! They were really helpful though and promised that I would get my key back before the day was out. They needed to contact the contractor that regularly services their lifts to retrieve the key for me. Wow, that would've been a conversation I wished I had been privy to .. "Uncle, can u come now? .. No, no .. the lifts are working fine .. some idiot woman dropped her car key into the lift shaft .. ya la, so stupid can die right?" ... I can only IMAGINE.

Of course, after I got the girls, I remembered that Stanley had told me he would be home early .. so I called him and he had just parked in our condo carpark. Firstly he asked what happened to the car. hahahahah! .. Of course, I had to tell him.

Other than saying "Oh shit" when I said it dropped into the lift shaft, he didn't scold me.

HAHAHAH! I love the man!!

He quickly got the spare key and rushed down to the Civic Centre and we got home just fine after the girls had a quick snack at Macs.

The management was really pretty efficient. And hour and a half later, someone called me to let me know that they had my key safe and sound. Thank goodness. I expected it to be broken .. not the metal key part .. but the plastic part where the buttons were. It did fall down SEVEN floors down to the bottom.

So now, tell me, HOW am I going to write my letter to them expressing my utter frustration about the sad lack of lifts and escalators when they had so kindly and quickly retrieved my key for me? HOW??!!

Guess I'll be shelving that letter for a while.

DAMN.

Anyway, after all that's said and done, I learnt a few things today.

1. I get distracted very easily when I'm chatting happily with my friends.
2. I need to tie that key holder to my wrist. I can't put it in my bag (one of the ladies I was with asked me WHY I didn't keep my key in my bag. Simple. My bag is like a Black Hole .. key goes in, dunno where it is and I have such a hard time finding it later .. I've tried it before) ..
3. THANK GOODNESS IT WAS MY CAR KEY AND NOT MY IPHONE. Lol !! I have a spare car key. I don't have a spare iPhone.
