I am about to have a meltdown

The weather here is really awful. Don't be fooled by the weather u read on the Yahoo! Weather website which claims that the average temperature in Singapore is about freaking 28 degrees celcius. Who are they trying to kid? Poor unsuspecting prospective tourists I suppose.

In actuality, it's more like 31 degrees and above. I kid u not. It's hot and it stays hot the whole damn day perhaps only cooling down at about 3am or so. There is no need to pack a cardigan or sweater or jacket if you decide to ever come here. Instead pack all your summer stuff and a small folding umbrella.

I am seriously tired of the horrendous weather here. U can't do anything outdoorsy at all without ending up tired and drained. Forget about walks in the parks here. Even on days when I bring my girls to the zoo, we go in the early morning and try to exit the zoo by 10am cos by then, the sun is blazingly hot.

I've been so irritable the whole afternoon cos of the heat. I contemplated switching on the air conditioning but electricity ain't cheap here either. Sigh. As it is now, my water and electricity bill amounts to some S$350 a month. Sigh.

Me time !!

Spent the afternoon getting a facial done as well as an express pedicure. Ahhhhh!! Bliss !!! Girls were home with the maid doing doing their schoolwork.

We finally took the plunge ...

and got ourselves a wireless keyboard and mouse for our spanking, new kickass PC. We had gone to the shop and had the guys construct one based on our specifications .. we mostly got the high end, new and fast stuff and had Windows 7 installed as well. Our PC now rocks !! It is super fast and efficient and very silent. We didn't just construct ANY PC .. Stanley had consulted the IT dept at work and had gotten their advice. We didn't want a poorly put together CPU. We wanted one that was FAST. And now we have one. And Windows 7 is an awesome OS. Seriously. Now while I love the Mac OS anyday and will agree with anyone that it is more intuitive and stable than the Windows OS ... the world is more Windows-friendly. UNFORTUNATELY.

Anyway, it's not that we have never considered getting a wireless mouse and keyboard before .. but I remember years ago, when it first came out, the blardy thing was super expensive!! Ridiculously so too !! I'm not paying more than a hundred bucks for a keyboard and mouse .. UNLESS it's made of gold and encrusted with diamonds ... lol !!

So anyway, we were at the computer shop at our nearby mall and we were lookin at the choices available and the prices have fallen A LOT. We got a pretty nice one .. from Logitech .. at guess how much? ... 50 bucks .. !! And with the wireless mouse too ... it was sold as a set !! And it was a cinch to set up .. YAY!!!

I love the wireless mouse and keyboard .. it means that I can now place the keyboard anywhere .. on my lap for example ... and it's so light and thin too!! ... I am not limited to being right in front of the screen ... and I can finally put the mouse out of Calista's reach when I'm not using it .. the keyboard too !!

Guidance .. he calls it.

and yes, the man is STILL attempting to instruct me on my driving. He calls it "GUIDANCE" .. I call it "NOISE" ...

SIGH.

And I've realized that complaining to people has backfired on me.

BIGTIME.

Now, my so-called friends .. LOL ... obviously have decided upon hearing of my stories .. that maybe the man is not wrong .. and that there must be something wrong with my driving if he's harping on it. That there MUST BE SOME SHRED OF TRUTH IN THERE SOMEWHERE. Blardy blardy HELL!!

I was with a friend .. she was in my car with me. We had decided to go somewhere nearby my place so I asked her to park her car at my condo so that we only take one car .. mine .. simply because Calista would be with me and so she would need her carseat.

We get near our destination .. only to realize that it was on the other side of the road. So I pause for 2 secs *there was no one behind me* cos I wanted to estimate the space and distance I needed cos my vehicle is an Odyssey so it's slightly longer than a family saloon .. and my friend starts instructing me on how to get to the other side of the road to park between these 2 cars that were already there parked alongside the road.

lol !!!

I glared at her .. and told her nicely that I knew what to do. Ok, I may have threatened to smack her. lol ...

So yes, I am now going to keep my mouth shut about the whole driving thing. It is NOT helping me at all. Of course, hubby was gleeful .. he said my evil plan to talk bad about him has failed and backfired on me. hahahahah!

It has taken over my life

A black 32gb iPhone 3GS !!

And it is a gorgeous, amazing gadget that has taken over my life hence my delay in blogging for awhile now.Gosh, I love my iPhone. I never thought I'd say that ... but I do. I got a monthly data plan with it and so I am on Facebook quite a bit now and there are loads of apps that you can download on it and that's just the FREE ones. If u want to PAY, then there are tons more.

And the iPhone is so intuitive and sensitive to touch .. it's just a breeze to use. You find yourself just playing with it for no reason at all .. more so if you have either a Wifi or GPRS connection. The apps that I use - for taking photos and such, they make it a cinch to upload onto Facebook .. u don't even have to get onto your Facebook to upload the photos - just thru the apps you are using. I have purchased one app so far .. Hipstamatic. It is an awesome photography app .. makes it look like your photos have been taken with the cameras of long long ago. amazing effects.

My contract with my telco was not even close to ending so I had to wait for a year before I could purchase the iPhone at a discounted price ... hubby's too. And I was prepared to wait cos brand new with no contract the darn thing was about 1k. And I was ok with waiting too. I didn't pull a long face or anything!! .. Hubby however felt, it was too long to wait and he wanted to get me a Val's Day gift anyway, so he decided to buy it without any contract. I was very touched.

So if you don't have an iPhone, I say get one now. This new 3GS version is very different from the 1st generation iPhone .. I had a chance to play with a friend who had one long ago when it first released .. my friend had bought an unlocked one from the States ... and I wasn't impressed. It couldn't do much .. now this new one is totally different .. !! a lot more improved.
