woo hooo !!!

My Tommy Hilfiger shoes came today !! YEAH!! Yes, for those of you who don't know ... I have BIG feet. I wear a size 9 - 10 depending on brand and cut and it's a PAIN to shop for shoes here. I used to buy my shoes from Marks and Spencers when I was a teen but now that I can shop ONLINE, there is no limit. Well, as long as the shoes fit ...

Anyway ... for Tommy Hilfiger, the sizing runs a bit small so I wear a 10M ... here are my new shoes ...

Ok so they're basically clogs .. whaddaya expect??!!! I have to drive and ferry kiddies around all day .. no time for the high heeled pointy shoes ... that and I'll fall on my butt if I wear shoes that I have to totter around in. It's just not me.

One thing I gotta admit though ....

The weather up there on that mountain in M was very nice, cool and refreshing. Have u been suffering like I have these past few days? Gosh, the weather is AWFUL here ... and I've lived here all my life !! I love the 4 seasons .... the time we spent in the States was the loveliest ... I actually sat OUTSIDE and did gardening .. yes, ME!! ... It was because the weather was so nice .. I didn't mind sitting on a little stool and planting bulbs or replanting flowering plants I had bought from Wal-Mart ... Claudia would either join me in diggin my dirt OR she'd be playing with her bicycle on the sidewalk ..

SIGH.

Anyway, back to the weather in Genting .. yeah, it was very nice .. I think this was the first time the girls could put on the cute jackets I got them from Pumpkin Patch ... it was really nice to NOT feel hot, muggy and sweaty FOR ONCE.

Singapore weather SUCKS.

I am never going back to M again.

The trip sucked to say the least .... this is what u get when you book things last minute and on the fly. Plus it is M after all ... what did I expect?

I shall complain about the bad stuff shortly.

The weather was superb ... nice and cool .. well, we were high up in the clouds on a mountain .. and the girls did enjoy the rides at the indoor and outdoor theme park :) and funnily enough, they didn't mind the long coach journey ... Emily was just really content to sit next to me .. Lauren was happy that she was allowed to play her Leapster 2 for as long as she wanted and Calista was just happy that she was on my lap most of the time she could get her milk ANYTIME .. lol. I didn't want her hollering the bus down so she got milk the minute she made any kind of "eh eh" sound .. Emily would switch on her Leapster and play on it for about 20 minutes then she would knock out for 2 hours or so ... get up .. look around, switch on her Leapster and then knock out again after 20 minutes .. lol .. it was really easy. She didn't even ask for food.

Now I shall complain ...

Firstly, I forgot I hated long bus journeys ... I am ok with long car trips .. after all, we did long road trips every other month when we were in the States ... our longest being a 28 HOURS NON-STOP (well, we stopped for food and pee breaks) road trip to Disney World in Florida ... plus we had a decent sized MPV there so it was comfy .. I am ok with taking over the driving even when it's pitch black outside ... but sitting in that coach .. it almost killed me. It really didn't help that the scenery outside SUCKED. So yes, 6 hours was really horrible for me. The absolute worst thing was that the day we got back, hubby and I were down with fever. BOTH OF US. He was worse off .. he had food poisoning. I had the chills while I was on the bus .. I nearly died. I KID U NOT. lol. I was huddling under my nursing cover with Calista .. poor baby was sweating it out under the cover with me ... Hubby was in the front seat .. quietly suffering and was in no shape to even hold Calista for a while .. so I suffered through that rough patch where I had the chills.

Secondly, we had to wait. We waited 3 hours to check into our hotel. YES, 3 hours. There were 200 people in the queue .. the numbers were in running order and we were number 7357 ... when I looked at the board they were serving q number 7144 or so. I nearly died. The guy there informed me that it would be at least a 1.5 hours wait. He was wrong. Blardy hell. Then on the day we left, we had to check out at 12pm ... guess what time we were to report to the bus terminal? --- 3pm. Again, this was our fault for booking so last minute. First World Hotel is the biggest hotel in the world in terms of the number of rooms they have .. which is 6000 odd. OF COURSE THE WAITING TIME TO CHECK IN WOULD BE LONG GIVEN THAT IT'S SUCH A BIG HOTEL. Strangely enough, the queues for most of the rides at the theme parks weren't that terrible. quite ok in fact .. I figure most of the people who go to Genting go for the casinoes and not the theme parks.

Thirdly, the food at Genting sucked. Yes, even Macdonalds and Pizza Hut. We realized really quickly that Emily didn't want to eat the rice there ... I think it's cos they used Malaysian rice ? .. it's really different .. not the Thai long grained rice we have ..and they prepare it in such a way that it's grainy and not soft and fluffy .. it tasted quite awful .. and so even though we tried a number of different places, Emily just refused to eat. We finally had to eat at Pizza Hut for dinner that night .. and then Macs the next so that she would eat something. We wanted to try the few places we had heard of from friends that supposedly has good food but we didn't get a chance ..

Next, I am reiterating NOW .. I am never travelling again without my maid. Here she was, really bored the whole time we were away .. she only went our once .. cos I gave her money for food and she returned more than half back to me. AND there I was suffering. I had to take care of 3 kids under the age of 5 .. everytime we got back to the room, I was so dead tired yet I had to bathe them and brush their teeth AND it took me ages to get them ready to go out ... and before you say .. "they're your kids what?!" .. WHATEVER MAN .. that's why I have my maid to help me ... When we got back, it was a big relief to just lie in bed and suffer .. while my trusty maid got the kids ready for bed then in the morning when I got up, EVERYTHING in all my bags and suitcases were neatly kept away (in the proper places) or put in the wash. My maid is indeed a gem. I regretted listening to my hubby who didn't want to bring her cos he wanted it to be just US. While I understand that .. HE didn't understand that it was just not possible for one person to take care of all of them ... at times, when Emily was cranky, she wanted to sit in the stroller and she would insist that I push her. So I carried Calista in her sling and pushed Emily in the stroller. It was really tiring cos Calista is already past 6kg ..

A holiday? More like POW camp for me. LOL :)

We are READY !!!

Our spanking new passports have been collected and so have our travel vouchers ..

We are ready to go on our first family holiday ... well, since we got back from the States many many years ago. lol.

It'll be a good test run ... Genting isn't that far away and it'll only be a 2 nite stay.

Stanley wanted it to be just US .. so guess what? .. For 2 nights, I'll have to be the maid while my maid stays here with my dogs and has a really nice break from everything. I'm giving her money and a topped up MRT card and giving her the green light to go out with her friends those 3 days ...

SOB. How is this a holiday for ME?!! 2 full days and nights of me feeding, changing, bathing, refereeing ...

Oh sure, the man will be there ...

Duh .. that's not much of a comfort. I'd rather leave him and bring my maid.

LOL.

So when I come back and I post Genting photos of my girls in unironed, rumpled clothes .. and messy messy hair ... you'll know WHY ..

Apply for your passport online ...

If there is a way to do it ONLINE, I will do it .. and in this case, I am referring to applying for your passport. Plus it saves you the hassle of queueing at ICA and taking photos (and paying for them) so ... I took the photos myself, edited the size etc to fit the requirements set and I submitted the photos and info ONLINE via the ICA website of course. And paid for them via credit card .. and I also booked the date and time to pick them up (after they notified me that the passports were ready) .. it takes about 4 days. Here are the girls' passports photos. I also did mine .. but you don't need to see my ROUND face here .. lol.

I love technology ... :)
